I am a kite on a beach.
Dipping, rising, twisting, diving.
I spread my arms and catch the air
And it drives me skyward
Laughter escapes as I scare myself.
Then turning I dive towards the sand
Faster than I should
Risking destruction
The spectators scatter as I plummet
Waiting for bright colors to shred against the shore.
But not you.
Standing on the beach.
Holding on to me by a thin line.
Always connected. My stability.
You know I won’t crash,
Because I know you won’t let go.
