Playing Catch Up

Wow, I guess it’s been a minute huh. 2023 was a year. I find that it’s quite difficult to sum up a year in a few sentences but I guess I’ll try.

A visual impression of Kristen’s 2023.

Obviously dominant over 2023 was my school life. Not only was I juggling a new role as a Social Studies teacher in 6th grade, but I also returned to school to start my doctorate work. 2023 was my 42nd year, and I was determined that it would be magical. 42 is obviously the answer to life the universe and everything after all.

I got to see a lot of soccer, we ended up in DC for peak bloom of the cherry blossoms almost on accident, and I finally got to see puffins. My garden wasn’t great, it rained almost all the time in Massachusetts and it just got absolutely waterlogged. We had several visitors that made our summer awesome, and we got to explore some sites we’d been meaning to get to. Luna got her cast off, but will always have an issue with that leg, and I finally got to go to a St Patrick’s Day Dropkick show. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary with a Disney cruise and we were set up well to go into 2024 in good form.

I’m going to make a separate post about one of the defining moments of 2023, which turned out to be the passing of my grandmother, but she would not want the whole year to be under shadow. She lived a long and triumphant life, and I hope that she found her peace in whatever comes next. Stay tuned. I’m going to try to start writing more again.

Never going to stop missing this lady.
